When it comes to medical facilities the University of Minnesota has 5 different campuses around the state. In the twin cities Minnieapoulus/ST. Paul campus, the University has a Medical Center, Medical School, and a Cancer center. Minnieapoulos has a Medical Research Foundation too.
The University of Minnesota Medical Center is for acute care research, and is a teaching hospital.

The Minneapolis Medical Research Foundation
Is the third largest, non-profit medical research organization in Minnesota. Due to the long history of research, there have been clinical breakthroughs i.e. the world’s first Dual-Lung transplant, the mid-wests first kidney transplant, and Minnesota’s first blood dialysis.
The University of Minnesota Medical School, prepares students for all types of medicines. Their programs include:
- Neuroscience, cognition, brain imaging, and neurodegenerative disease.
- Infectious Disease & Immunology, HIV/AIDS, and emerging diseases.
- Diabetes, and the metabolic syndrome.

The University of Minnesota Cancer Center
Has 8 research programs, and successes to include:
- The world’s first successful bone marrow transplant for Burkitts Lymphoma.
- Reached International Prominence in umbilical cord blood transplantation and research.
- Created the first animal model for studying and disablking cells responsible for causing bone cancer pain.
Minnieapoulos also has a VA Medical Center and it too is a teaching hospital that provides full range care services with state-of-the-art technology, and education and research. The types of service are: primary care, tertiary care, and long term care in areas of medicine and rehabilitation; neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care as well.
