Finchburg and Leominster, Massachusetts
Way up in the Northeastern section of the states lies Massachusetts, and in the mid central part of the state are two small towns, Fitchburg and Leominster. These two small towns lie around the Nashua river and are within 15 miles of the next state of New Hampshire, and approximately 50 miles from the city of Boston, Massachusetts. Back 200 years ago or so these two small towns/cities grew in size due to the industry with mills and factories along the river bank, that were water powered, and in the downtown parts where merchants and retailers.
Fitchburg, known as the city by the river has been working for years to restore and preserve their town and historical buildings.
Leominster known as the plastics Capital of the world(120plastics companies),and the birthplace of the famous Johnny Appleseed, has a small town appeal. They still farm at the original orchard of the story of Johnny Appleseed, and picking season for apples and pumpkins runs through September to October. The people of Leominster are also committed to the preservation of natural and historical assets.
There is much history in these two small towns, with their museums and historical societies. A area with rolling hills and beautiful scenery. A great vacation spot for families young and old.
